Diverse Classrooms Conversation Café In-Person

All of us in post-secondary institutions face opportunities and challenges with increasing diversity in our classrooms. Some of the essential but challenging layers that inform our teaching spaces are anti-racist and trauma-informed pedagogy, principles of Indigenous learning and decolonization, and multi-lingual student support, each of which try to support deep culture shifts towards equity, diversity, and inclusion. Other layers we have to navigate in the classroom are challenging behaviours, difficult conversations, low student engagement, and complex accommodations. Students are facing some of these same considerations in their own learning and are entering post-secondary education with varying expectations and levels of preparedness. This conversation café is a space to work together as a college community to address these layers and keep the conversation going.
