Wellness Wednesdays In-Person
Wellness Wednesdays are a time when registered Camosun students can create in a free, unencumbered environment. Held at Camosun’s Makerspace and facilitated by a Registered Art Therapist, the purpose of this open studio group is to nurture your self-expression and expand your capacity to explore and play.
Wellness Wednesdays are an invitation for you to arrive as you are and focus on creating with your well-being in mind. You are welcome to stay as long as you can in between classes and no art experience is required.
The focus of an open studio group is on the process of art making, not the product. Wellness Wednesdays take place on the second Wednesday of every month from 10:30am-12:30pm.

January 8, 2025: Creativity for Gratitude
- As the winter continues, it can be challenging to cultivate optimism in our day-to-day lives. Intentional practices of gratitude and creativity can lift our spirits and foster a sense of hope through our appreciation of the small gifts that often go unnoticed.
February 12, 2025: Creativity for Grounding
- As we navigate through the intensity of mid-term, it can be overwhelming to face the demands of all our assignments/exams and other commitments. Taking a small amount of time to ground in the present moment, connect with our senses and engage the creativity of the whole mind can offer us perspective.
March 12, 2025: Creativity for Rejuvenation
- Being a post-secondary student is demanding. It can be particularly hard to keep your energy up and mind focused in the last month of the winter semester. Finding windows of time to rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit can feel like a luxury, but it is actually essential. Engaging in even just a few minutes of creativity without expectations can enhance both your work and your well-being.
April 9, 2025: Creativity for Insight
- The months of later spring and summer look different for each student. Despite how set or flexible your plans are for the upcoming transition out of the Winter semester, you might be thinking about your goals, values, finances and finding some windows of rest over the summer. Giving your whole mind the chance to explore through unstructured creativity can bring new ideas and insight for how you will move forward. It can also bring some calm into your day as you finish those last assignments and/or exams.
